apple picking (part two)

As I promised in my previous post, apple picking (part one), I’m back to share some of the pictures from Rachel’s camera. Let me just say how hard it was to narrow down which pictures to post. She took so many beautiful pictures that it was hard to not post all of them!

Also, you may notice that there is only one picture of our whole family together. We weren’t actually there for family pictures but she snapped a quick picture of all of us before we got started. When you have 4 kids, you stop expecting a perfect, smiley picture with everyone looking at the camera and you call it a success when everyone ends up in the same shot with no one crying!

Liam refused to eat any apples–he hasn’t liked them for years. But today he has changed his mind and decided he loves them.

I’m very thankful for a beautiful friend who has an amazing talent! I can honestly say that this was the least stressful photo session I’ve ever experienced with my children. We had such a fun day and (thanks to Rachel) we have some beautiful pictures to remember this season of life!

New Town

Yesterday was a day of spontaneity and adventure. Maggi heads back to school next week so our chance to have some summer fun was running out. I had no idea what I wanted to do, but I knew that it had to involve ice cream at some point. It is, after all, National Ice Cream Month. We ended up heading out to the St. Charles area, along with Mayci and Mysti. And since we were going to be in the area, we picked up Stef to join us.

First stop was to New Town. This charming little community has it’s own little “Truman Show” vibe. So everything was picture perfect, with a slight hint of creepy.

Along with their own shops and church, they have a farm–also charming!

I noticed that the problem with hanging out with girls with cameras is that no one wants to be in front of the camera. I managed to get a few with my lovely friends 🙂

After a few more stops and dropping Stef off, we (of course) stopped at Quiktrip for their amazing pretzels and cheese. But we still hadn’t gotten ice cream! We had our hearts set on pretzel cones from The Fountain. After taking a major detour to get this much desired ice cream, we pulled up to find that they were closed. Major disappointment! In the end, we found Tower Grove Creamery and we were still able to get a delicious treat.

It was so nice to get out with the best of friends after being sick this past week. I hope you’re enjoying this amazing July weather as much as we are!
